Association for Behavior Analysis International

The Association for Behavior Analysis International® (ABAI) is a nonprofit membership organization with the mission to contribute to the well-being of society by developing, enhancing, and supporting the growth and vitality of the science of behavior analysis through research, education, and practice.

History Timeline

Since its founding in 1974, the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) has been the primary membership organization for those interested in the philosophy, science, application, and teaching of behavior analysis. Today, ABAI is the largest professional organization for behavior analysis in the world and counts more than 5,000 practitioners, researchers, educators, students, and others as members. Over the decades, it has grown to include six scientific journals, accreditation of quality higher-education programs, and multiple events--including an annual convention, an annual autism conference, a biannual international conference, and various single-track conferences--for its members.

Here in our History section, we recognize major events and accomplishments in our organization's history as well as those behaviorists who have made an impact on our field.
